Pupil of LACOUR Father, François COLIN realized many portraits and genre paintings. From his production, Bordeaux Museum exposes since 1864 The fountain of love and Crispin messenger. He was a gifted artist of great ease of implementation, and that would have made a name if his existence had passed in Paris, but the time spent on teaching staff has absorbed his life and hindered the development of his natural skills.

The artist is buried in the cemetery of the Chartreuse in Bordeaux in the same vault as the painter Pierre-Emile BERNEDE.
